Maen Ftouni, the CEO of CoinQuant, stated that older cryptocurrencies, particularly those with existing ETFs or expected to receive them, will absorb a substantial amount of capital when the next altcoin season arrives. He made these comments during the Global Blockchain Congress 2025 in Dubai, UAE.

“Not every single coin is going to generate significant returns; liquidity will be concentrated in certain areas, and dinosaur coins will be among those,” said Ftouni.

He emphasized that institutional capital is likely to flow towards these "dinosaur" coins. He connected this trend to the potential for a rally in older cryptocurrencies like XRP and Cardano in 2024.

Analysts' Speculation: Timing for Altseason

As of now, there are over 26 million different cryptocurrencies listed on CoinMarketCap—more than double the number of digital assets that were available at the beginning of 2025.

Kruger advised traders to adjust their expectations, suggesting that an "altseason," defined as a prolonged phase of rising asset prices, may not occur in the current market cycle due to these changing conditions.
