World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency project backed by the Trump family, is actively pursuing a buyback strategy for its tokens. This move is aimed at stimulating demand for WLFI tokens, which have fallen nearly 50% since their launch.

On Wednesday, WLFI acquired $7.7 million worth of its tokens, purchasing at an average price of $0.16 each. This buyback is a dramatic increase compared to the previous $1.06 million WLFI buyback on September 27, when $1.43 million worth of tokens were burned, as previously reported by Cointelegraph.

Earlier this month, the platform successfully passed a governance vote designating 100% of the project’s treasury liquidity fees for buybacks and burns, which permanently removes tokens from circulation. This strategy is designed to reduce the available supply of coins in the market, thereby increasing demand through buyback efforts.

Despite the recent buybacks, WLFI has seen a 13% price growth in the past week; however, it still remains more than 48% below its initial launch price in January, according to CoinMarketCap data.

The Trump family's involvement in cryptocurrency has reportedly surged their holdings to around $5 billion, coinciding with the recent release of 24.6 billion tokens earlier this month.
