In light of Bitcoin's recent fluctuations, the CEO of Strategy, Phong Le, indicated the possibility of liquidating some of their Bitcoin assets. The firm’s leveraged exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have been influenced heavily by this bearish trend, which has heightened concerns surrounding Strategy’s overall financial stability. According to reports from Reuters, these ETFs, designed to amplify the returns tied to the firm’s stock, have suffered notably during this cryptocurrency downturn.

Notably, two specific ETFs—the T-Rex 2X Long MSTR Daily Target ETF and the Defiance Daily Target 2x Long MSTR ETF—have witnessed significant declines, each losing close to 85% of their value this year. Furthermore, the T-Rex 2X Inverse MSTR Daily Target ETF has seen a decline of 48% in the same period. The company has also revised its financial projections for the full year, indicating possible profitability ranging from $6.3 billion to a loss of $5.5 billion, a stark contrast to a previous optimistic forecast of $24 billion in profits. This earlier projection anticipated Bitcoin reaching $150,000 by the end of the year.

Vincenzo Vedda, chief investment officer at DWS, commented on the changes within the company, stating, “Great strategy from Strategy when prices rise. However, when they fall, their strategic options become limited.”

Since entering the Nasdaq 100 index, Strategy’s stocks have plummeted over 70% from their November 2024 peak, losing more than half their value in just one year.
