Julio Moreno, head of research at CryptoQuant, notes that this level has historically acted as a resistance barrier during bear markets, a trend that appears to be continuing now. Bitcoin has tested the $75,000 threshold three times on Coinbase within a single day, only to be rebuffed each time.

Despite this, there has been a notable rally with Bitcoin price climbing roughly 12% in March, reaching a six-week high of about $76,000 on March 17. However, the upward momentum appears to have stalled exactly where analysts anticipated.

Substantial Bitcoin Deposits Pour Into Exchanges

The stall in Bitcoin's price becomes more significant when considering recent trading activity. On March 16, Bitcoin inflows to centralized exchanges spiked to 6,100 BTC in just one hour, marking the highest reading since February 20.

Notably, large deposits accounted for over 60% of this total, a proportion not seen since mid-October 2025. When traders transfer Bitcoin to exchanges, it generally indicates preparations for selling. Moreno also mentioned that spikes in large deposits have historically correlated with increased selling pressure.

This occurrence is particularly noteworthy given that it coincides with Bitcoin hitting resistance at the $75,000 mark.

The critical question now is whether the selling pressure will be sufficient to drive prices down again or if buyers will step in to push past the $75,000 barrier.

Broader financial conditions are also playing a role in this market dynamic. The Federal Reserve is expected to announce its rate decision on Wednesday, with CME futures suggesting a 98.9% likelihood that rates will remain unchanged—only a 1.1% chance for a hike.

However, the Fed may provide guidance indicating that no rate cuts are expected in 2026, amid ongoing inflation issues and concerns stemming from the US-Iran conflict. This type of messaging tends to exert downward pressure on risk assets.

If Bitcoin manages to surpass $75,000 with sufficient strength to maintain that level, it will still face another hurdle. The full Realized Price, which represents the average break-even price for active traders, currently rests around $84,700. This figure has acted as resistance in past months, including October and January.

Clearing the $75,000 mark would be an important first step; reaching $84,700 poses a different level of challenge altogether.
