This is an increase of 3.43% from the earlier rate of $67,704 noted earlier this year. It is essential to understand that these mining costs vary based on how different companies calculate their expenses.

The base electricity expense for MARA Holdings, a primary player in the Bitcoin mining sector, currently stands at about $38,956 per Bitcoin, up significantly from $29,084 in 2024. When adding in costs for hosting and operational sites, the total cost reaches $70,027 per BTC. Moreover, including selling, general, and administrative (SG&A) expenses brings the total production cost to an estimated range of $110,000 to $113,000 per Bitcoin.

MARA Maintains Profitability

In spite of these rising costs, MARA has managed to remain profitable, at least for the time being. As of this reporting, Bitcoin prices are trading at $72,748, which is just above the calculated average mining cost of around $70,000. For instance, last month, when Bitcoin prices dipped to $60,000, miners including MARA experienced losses due to production costs exceeding revenue.
