Bitcoin's Potential Breakout on the Horizon

Recent data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView indicates that Bitcoin's price has remained stable over the weekend, facing strong horizontal resistance overhead.

Despite several attempts to push higher throughout the week, Bitcoin's tight trading range has led analysts to predict a significant movement soon. Trader analyst Aksel Kibar highlighted this in a recent post on X, noting the “extreme low volatility setup,” which suggests that a directional price movement is imminent. He proposed two potential scenarios for the impending volatility: a breakdown from the current bear flag pattern on the daily chart or a surge towards $95,000.

“If this functions as a bear flag, we could see one last drop towards the $73,700-$76,500 area, where we’ll look for a medium-term bottom signal,” he explained alongside an accompanying chart.

Other analysts also noted that Bitcoin is at a critical juncture, where new lows may be possible if sellers gain control. The price is currently hovering around the $90,000 mark.

For Bitcoin to experience strong upward momentum, it needs to reclaim the $92,000-$94,000 range. However, if it falls below the $88,000-$89,000 level, traders can expect a decline towards the $85,000 mark.

New $50,000 Price Target for Bitcoin

On a more concerning note, the on-chain analytics platform CryptoQuant has recently cautioned that the Bitcoin bear market may already be in full swing.

Pelin Ay, a contributor for CryptoQuant, discussed how a combination of downward-trending simple moving averages (SMAs) and the price trading below vital trend lines have led to a sobering market outlook.

“Price reactions are being sold at declining moving averages, indicating these levels have become dynamic resistance. Efforts to climb higher occur with low trading volume, demonstrating that buyers are weak. The selling volume during red candles significantly exceeds the buying volume during green candles,” she wrote in a “Quicktake” blog post released on Sunday.

In her concluding thoughts, Ay pointed out, “For now, the Bitcoin rally appears to be over.” Calls for much lower support retests for Bitcoin have been increasing throughout December, signaling a concerning trend for the cryptocurrency.
