Bitcoin has proven resilient even while global conflicts escalate. Unlike previous instances where geopolitical tensions drove investors to traditional safe havens like gold, Bitcoin (BTC) has shown a different trend.

Despite rising concerns about a potential economic downturn, Bitcoin has maintained its value, remaining above the critical $60,000 mark. Currently, Bitcoin is trading at $66,472.88, reflecting a slight increase of 0.42% in the past 24 hours.

Key Indicators of Bitcoin's Strength

The rising price of Bitcoin is mirrored in related stocks. For instance, Michael Saylor’s MicroStrategy (MSTR) stock surged 6.29% to reach $137.65 in a single session. The company is committed to its long-term strategy of holding Bitcoin, or "HODLing." Reports indicate that MicroStrategy recently acquired 3,015 BTC for approximately $204.1 million, averaging around $67,700 per coin, bringing its total holdings to 720,737 BTC. However, it’s important to note that the company’s average purchase price was $75,985 per Bitcoin, meaning it is still at a loss overall.

In the mining sector, companies are experiencing varying rates of recovery, but the overall trend remains favorable. For example, Mara Holdings is currently trading at $9.45, showing a notable 5.70% increase, while Riot Platforms (RIOT) is priced at $16.43, with a more modest rise of 0.86%.

Geopolitical Tensions on the Rise

On another front, the geopolitical landscape appears to be deteriorating. In a brief interview with CNN on March 2nd, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the U.S. military is "knocking the crap" out of Iran but warned that a significant escalation in conflict is imminent. He expressed confidence in the U.S. military's capabilities, noting, "We have the greatest military in the world and we’re using it."

This came shortly after a report from CryptoQuant highlighted that nearly $1.8 billion worth of selling occurred within just one hour following a military attack.

What’s Next for Bitcoin?

Despite the strength demonstrated by Bitcoin during these turbulent times, Jan van Eck, CEO of VanEck, urges caution. He pointed out that Bitcoin's current price is still over 50% lower than its October 2025 peak of around $126,000. According to the established four-year halving cycle, 2026 is anticipated to be a correction phase instead of the dawn of a new bull market.

In simpler terms, this recent upswing may not signify a full market recovery. It could merely represent an early phase of establishing a market bottom.

There’s an additional risk to consider. If the "big wave" Trump spoke of triggers a significant oil shock, Bitcoin might once again correlate with high-risk technology stocks. Should that scenario unfold, it could put the $60,000 support level to the test.

Presently, while the market isn’t panicking, it isn’t in full-blown bullish mode either. As VanEck's CEO aptly stated, “I think we’re making a bottom, and this is a very nice sign of life.”
