Bitcoin has stabilized above $87,000 following a significant price drop earlier this month. The cryptocurrency dipped to a multi-month low of $80,620 on November 21 but has bounced back to its present market price of $87,551, reflecting an 8.6% rise in just four days.

Although this recovery seems promising, Bitcoin still shows a downward trend over a longer period. In the past week, BTC has decreased by 4.17%, and it has plunged by 22.7% over the last 30 days. Currently, Bitcoin is 6.31% below its yearly opening price of $93,455, according to TradingView data. Notably, it was reported to be trading 8% below this level when analyst JA Maartunn highlighted the bearish trend on X.

Interestingly, Bitcoin has generally trended above its yearly opening price more often than below it. Prior to this recent decline, BTC remained under $93,455 only from late February to April, which indicates a period of profitability for holders who purchased at the year's start.

Bitcoin and Ethereum YTD Change

In comparison, Ethereum has shown a more significant year-to-date drop, down 16% according to Maartunn’s assessment, and 12.1% as per CoinMarketCap data. Other cryptocurrencies from the top ten list have also experienced losses; for instance, Solana, Dogecoin, and Cardano are down 27.8%, 52.6%, and 50.7% from their opening prices, respectively. As reported using Checkonchain data, Bitcoin futures OI fell by 15% from $68 billion to $58 billion, indicating over $10 billion has been liquidated amidst rising market uncertainties.
