Wood believes that during the Federal Reserve's meeting on December 10, they will halt their current policy of quantitative tightening. This change will alleviate some of the existing liquidity pressures. Furthermore, following the conclusion of the government shutdown, funds are expected to flow back into circulation.

She remarked, “We think that source of a liquidity squeeze is behind us.” While interest rates continue to pose a challenge, Wood predicts a potential rate cut in December as economic data shows signs of weakness. “We think we will get another cut in December, and that the Fed will shift from what seems to be a hawkish tone right now back into a more dovish tone as we approach that date,” she explained.

Additionally, the decline in inflation expectations, shown by a drop in the ten-year Treasury yield to about 2.5%, signifies growing deflationary pressure, aided by falling oil prices and declining home prices.

Crypto Markets Reacting to Liquidity Pressures

The cryptocurrency markets have reflected tight liquidity conditions, with Bitcoin falling below $90,000 for the first time since April. A 30% drop from October's peak of $125,100 led to significant outflows of $254 million from U.S. Bitcoin funds on November 17.

Average investors are currently at a loss, with their weighted-cost basis sitting around $89,600. During the recent webinar, Wood highlighted the role of crypto as a barometer for liquidity: “It is interesting watching the crypto ecosystem really be a leading indicator when liquidity is ebbing and flowing,” she noted.

In response to the market conditions, ARK Invest has increased its buying activity, adding $42 million to their investments in companies like Bullish, Circle Internet Group, and BitMine Immersion Technologies on November 20. The firm's exposure to crypto through its flagship ETFs now exceeds $2.15 billion, encompassing major players such as Coinbase, Robinhood, Circle, and Bullish. ARK’s crypto allocations are highest in ARKF at 29%, followed by ARKW at 25.7% and ARKK at 17.7%.

Despite ongoing uncertainties about enterprise productivity gains, Wood insists that meaningful transformation requires significant effort and time. She pointed to Palantir’s impressive 123% growth in its U.S. commercial business last quarter as evidence of a strategic necessity for change.

Revised Bitcoin Price Target Still Shows Potential

Recently, Wood adjusted her Bitcoin price target for 2030 from $1.5 million to $1.2 million due to increased competition from stablecoins in emerging markets. She stated, “Stablecoins are usurping part of the role that we thought Bitcoin would play,” referencing their recent rapid growth nearing $300 billion.

Conversely, Bitcoin advocate Michael Saylor countered this view, emphasizing that Bitcoin serves as “digital capital,” while stablecoins are intended for different functions. “No rich person wants to buy the currency instead of an equity or a real estate or a capital asset,” Saylor argued during a CNBC appearance.
