The planned restrictions, highlighted by journalist Eleanor Terrett from Crypto in America, are designed to encompass digital asset service providers and their affiliates—such as exchanges and brokers—aiming to eliminate any potential loopholes.

According to the proposed draft, firms would be prohibited from delivering anything that is “economically or functionally equivalent” to interest on stablecoin holdings.

Tether presented this engagement as a pivotal measure toward improved transparency and regulatory compliance, asserting that the audit would provide “deep assurance that USDT is fully backed, highly liquid, and operated with world-class risk management.”
