Key Factors Influencing Ethereum's Price This Weekend

Recently, Ethereum experienced a brief decline, touching the $1,980 level before rebounding. On Wednesday, the cryptocurrency surged by 11%, reaching a peak of $2,148—its highest point in the last ten days—before stabilizing around the key $2,000 support level.

Trader Tardigrade, a market observer, pointed out that Ethereum has temporarily regained a significant monthly level that it had lost in shorter timelines. The cryptocurrency is now trading above its multi-year trendline, suggesting the possibility of a price recovery if this level holds stable. According to Tardigrade, "ETH has a proven pattern: every time it stays above this ascending support trendline, it tends to launch into a parabolic rally."

As illustrated in a chart, this pattern was evident from 2018 to 2020 when Ethereum bounced back from this support and initiated a significant rally towards its previous all-time high (ATH). Presently, ETH appears to be demonstrating a similar trend as it tests the trendline established in 2022. "If it holds here, history suggests we’re on the verge of another explosive ascent," the trader affirmed.

Analyst Rekt Capital echoed this sentiment, describing the multi-year trendline as a critical structural level that has shaped Ethereum's broader macro trajectory over several years. He noted that if Ethereum closes the month above this trendline—approximately between the $1,960 and $1,970 levels—there could be potential for the price to recover and push into a higher range of $2,250 to $2,500. Nevertheless, he cautioned that this horizontal region has historically not been favorable for Ethereum during various market cycles.

The Possibility of a Deeper Correction

Rekt Capital elaborated on Ethereum’s past behavior at this level. In 2022, after breaking below this horizontal area on a monthly basis, the price continued to decline. Furthermore, Ethereum closed below this level once again in early 2025, retested it, transformed it into resistance, and subsequently started to correct towards the April 2025 lows around $1,385.

Rekt Capital emphasized, "So structurally, the green zone remains a probable resistance area unless Ethereum closes the month above it and firmly turns it into support." However, given the current bear market environment, he believes this scenario seems less likely.

He also warned that if Ethereum closes the month below the multi-year support trendline, the price might revisit the $1,570-$1,670 horizontal zone, which had previously served as a demand cluster. "We’ve already observed movements towards that region, but not a clear retest. Losing the trendline could compel the price into that region more decisively, possibly leading to a loss of support," he added.

Rekt Capital further stressed that if the macro uptrend is broken, there will be limited buying pressure to uphold the price against additional downturns over time.

As of this writing, Ethereum is trading at $2,026, reflecting a 4.7% increase for the week.
