Anticipated Surge in Institutional Adoption

In its 2026 forecast report, which focuses on 26 significant areas, Galaxy Digital predicts that net inflows into US spot crypto ETFs will exceed $50 billion. This follows a successful year in 2025, where net inflows reached $23 billion.

The firm argues that as institutional adoption of cryptocurrencies continues to grow, these inflow numbers are expected to increase even further in 2026. Factors such as wirehouses lifting restrictions on advisor recommendations and Vanguard launching crypto funds are believed to contribute to this growth. Spot ETFs for Bitcoin and Ethereum are projected to exceed their 2025 inflow levels.

In addition to Bitcoin and Ethereum, Galaxy Digital is also looking forward to a wave of new crypto ETFs, especially those focused on spot altcoin products.

Over 100 New Crypto ETFs Expected in 2026

Galaxy Digital estimates that more than 50 spot altcoin ETFs will launch in the US, along with an additional 50 crypto ETFs that do not concentrate on single coins.

Following the US Securities and Exchange Commission's recent approval of generic listing standards, the pace of spot altcoin ETF launches is expected to increase throughout 2026.

In 2025, over 15 spot crypto ETFs were introduced for various altcoins such as Solana (SOL), XRP, Hedera (HBAR), Dogecoin (DOE), Litecoin (LTC), and Chainlink (LINK).

Galaxy Digital predicts that several prominent assets yet to file for their own spot ETFs will soon do so, and the market may also see the introduction of multi-asset ETFs and leveraged crypto ETFs.

Besides the growing number of crypto ETFs, Galaxy Digital foresees more than 15 cryptocurrency firms looking to pursue initial public offerings (IPOs) or uplisting in the US. Over the past year, 10 crypto-related companies, including Galaxy itself, have successfully gone public or uplisted.

The firm points out that more than 290 crypto and blockchain companies have secured substantial private funding rounds since 2018, positioning them for potential US listings as regulatory conditions improve. Firms rumored to be candidates for IPOs or uplisting in 2026 include CoinShares, BitGo (which has already submitted its application), Chainalysis, and FalconX.

As of now, Bitcoin is trading at $87,480, reflecting a 30% retracement from its all-time highs in October and a 3% decline over the past month. Meanwhile, Ethereum’s current trading level of $2,930 is 40% below its all-time highs and has also decreased by 3% over the last 30 days.
