"Global demand for USD is massive," Witt stated, asserting that this process leads to new capital entering American banks. His remarks come as Congress engages in intense discussions regarding the CLARITY Act and the GENIUS Act. However, not everyone shares Witt's optimism. In a recent research note, Standard Chartered estimated that a rise in stablecoin adoption could result in a significant reduction—approximately one-third—of total bank deposits in the US, posing a serious concern particularly for community banks that rely on those deposits to fund local mortgages and small business loans.

Christopher Williston, the president of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas, made a strong case last Friday, warning that compromising during discussions on the CLARITY Act could jeopardize local lending and economic activity. The crypto industry responded swiftly to these concerns.
