Van Eck mentioned that many well-established members of the Bitcoin community, often referred to as "OGs or maxis," have begun exploring Zcash. This cryptocurrency focuses on providing enhanced transaction privacy and has seen a remarkable price increase of over 1,300% in just three months as consumer interest in privacy protection has surged.

Earlier this month, cryptography expert Adam Back stated that he believes Bitcoin will not face a significant threat from quantum computing for at least 20 to 40 years.

Bear Market Dynamics

Van Eck pointed out that the four-year market cycle is currently being factored into Bitcoin's pricing. He recommended a strategy of dollar-cost averaging during bear markets instead of chasing highs during bull markets. He emphasized the importance of including Bitcoin in investment portfolios due to global liquidity factors and its on-chain fundamentals.

He elaborated on Bitcoin’s halving cycle, noting that historically, Bitcoin experiences a significant downturn every four years. He anticipates 2026 will see a decline, leading investors to prepare for potential bearish trends. “Every cycle is different. What’s obvious to everybody is that Bitcoin has gone up less this cycle, and so many people think it will go down less in the correction,” he stated.

As for Bitcoin's recent performance, it has seen a drop of over 30% since reaching an all-time high in early October, hitting a low of just above $82,000 on Friday, before recovering to around $88,000 in early Monday trading.
