Zooko Wilcox, the founder of Zcash, has openly questioned Bitcoin's future, citing the immovable culture within its community as a significant concern. In a recent post on social media, he referenced the popular business saying, "Culture eats strategy for breakfast." His perspective is that no matter how technically sound or strategically positioned Bitcoin may be, a dysfunctional community will diminish its potential.

Wilcox expresses a belief that the Bitcoin community has adopted a hostile attitude towards innovation and its developers. In contrast, he aspires for Zcash to uphold a standard of "high openness" that encourages progress and adaptation.

He stated, "I guess we just do our best to retain high openness as a personality trait/practice. Maybe we can engineer Zcash so that a minority of users who want to evolve it can do so successfully against the wishes of the majority."
