US Senate approves Selig as CFTC Chair

Both appointments were part of a broader package that included almost 100 nominees from the Trump administration and were passed by the Senate with a vote of 53-43 on Thursday.

Selig, who has prior experience at both the CFTC and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), committed to prioritizing cryptocurrency upon his nomination in October. He takes over from the former nominee, Brian Quintenz. Meanwhile, Hill, who previously served as acting chairman of the FDIC, has also maintained a pro-crypto position, highlighting concerns about the ongoing debanking of companies linked to cryptocurrencies during Congressional hearings.
