Aerodrome, Velodrome to merge to Aero network

This announcement was made during Dromos Labs' “New Horizon” event on November 11, where the team described Aero as a “central liquidity hub” created to connect various networks and empower applications through a shared infrastructure.

A New Token and Decentralized Exchange Architecture

A significant aspect of this transition involves merging the Aerodrome Aerodrome Finance and Velodrome Velodrome Finance tokens into a single AERO token. Importantly, no new tokens will be issued.

The distribution of the new AERO token will be based on the existing holders' stakes, with VELO holders receiving approximately 5.5% and AERO holders about 94.5%. This change is designed to ensure that current holders retain their stake without facing dilution. The AERO token will represent a portion of Aero’s total revenue and growth.

Furthermore, Dromos is introducing MetaDEX 03, a new decentralized exchange operating system designed to improve efficiency and reward structures. This system includes two new components, AER and REV, which will enhance liquidity revenue and reduce operating costs. According to the team, this upgrade could potentially increase protocol earnings by 40% while cutting expenses by about $34 million.

The Aero protocol will also introduce “Metaswaps” for cross-chain trading, verified pools for compliant institutions, and better integrations across Ethereum Virtual Machine networks. With these features, Aero aims to establish itself as one of the most flexible and scalable decentralized exchange infrastructures in the DeFi space.

Positioning Aero for Expansion in Ethereum and Institutional Networks

In addition to the merger, Dromos intends to establish Aero as the foundational liquidity layer for the on-chain economy.
