Chainlink opens extended-hours stock data to on-chain markets

Launched on January 20, this service is an expansion of Chainlink’s existing Data Streams product. The 24/5 U.S. Equities Streams enable U.S. equities to be utilized on-chain five days a week, effectively closing the gap between traditional market hours and the constant operations of blockchain systems.

Aligning Market Hours with On-Chain Trading

Previously, most on-chain equity products were limited to price updates during standard U.S. trading hours, leading to outdated pricing outside those times. This posed risks for derivatives, lending protocols, and synthetic asset platforms.

Chainlink's new streams tackle these challenges by offering sub-second pricing updates throughout extended trading periods. This includes mid-price data, as well as bid and ask prices, trading volumes, and last trade prices, indicating whether the market is in any of the trading sessions: regular, pre-market, after-hours, or overnight.

Each update is cryptographically signed, enabling protocols to verify the integrity of data before incorporation into their operations. This enhanced data availability allows on-chain platforms to handle liquidations, funding rates, and margin requirements more accurately even when traditional exchanges are closed.

Rapid Integration in DeFi Equity Markets

Numerous trading platforms have quickly adopted these 24/5 equity streams to facilitate continuous stock-based products. For instance, Lighter, which ranks as the second-largest perpetual futures decentralized exchange (DEX) by volume, is using this data to enhance equity perpetuals beyond regular trading times. BitMEX has also integrated the streams to support its equity derivatives with real-time risk management during extended trading hours.

Other platforms that have adopted this service include ApeX, HelloTrade, Decibel, Monaco, Opinion Labs, and Orderly Network. These integrations enable a variety of use cases such as equity perpetuals, prediction markets, synthetic stocks, and U.S. equity-related lending products.

This rollout builds on Chainlink’s previous introduction of real-time equity data back in August 2025, signifying the increasing interest in stock exposure within decentralized financial markets. With U.S. equities valued at around $80 trillion, the introduction of continuous and verifiable pricing is a critical advancement for on-chain adoption.

Chainlink announced that these new data streams are available immediately, complete with documentation and integration tools for developers aiming to incorporate U.S. equity markets into their decentralized protocols.
