Binance's Vision for the U.S.

During the press conference, Zhao candidly discussed his future plans for Binance in the U.S. market, especially following President Trump's pardon. He expressed his appreciation for this decision, stating it allows Binance greater freedom to expand and operate globally, including within America.

Zhao acknowledged that only a few countries currently have established clear regulations surrounding digital assets, while the U.S. is making strides in this direction. “Now the U.S. is leading — which is good, but the U.S. is only just starting. Trump has only been in power for a year,” he commented.

He pointed out recent legislative advancements, including the GENIUS Act, which sets forth rules for stablecoins, and shared insights on the CLARITY Act, aimed at defining digital assets, acknowledging it is still a work in progress.

“Also the first draft of regulations will not be perfect — it takes time to evolve. After this, banks will need to collaborate closely with crypto businesses,” Zhao explained. Zhao also touched upon his past legal situation, having served four months in a U.S. prison in April 2024 after admitting to breaking U.S. money laundering laws. He remarked, “I went through a lot of challenges — I went to jail, etc., but I know that no one got hurt.” He asserted that there were no fraudulent activities nor did his actions harm users, allowing him to rest soundly at night, knowing he is helping many people.
