TokenWorks’ NFT Strategy tokens have made their debut on the NFT marketplace OpenSea after achieving notable success in the market. The company’s innovative ‘flywheel’ approach allows traders to seamlessly blend decentralized finance (DeFi) with NFTs to maximize their investment potential.

On September 30, OpenSea announced that all NFT Strategy tokens are now available for trading on their marketplace. This includes not only the original Punk Strategy token, known as PUNKSTR, but also multiple other popular NFT collections linked to this new trading model, which enables traders to invest in NFTs and earn yield at the same time.

NFT Strategy tokens merge NFTs with a DeFi framework, utilizing automated trading strategies to manage assets associated with specific NFT collections. This creates value and yield for token holders. The strategy is referred to as the ‘flywheel’ effect, which facilitates automatic relisting of NFT collections at a price of 1.2 times the initial purchase price.

Furthermore, as part of this launch, OpenSea has included a rewards pool for select tokens, totaling 20 ETH. Tokens such as PUNKSTR, PUDGYSTR, APESTR, TOADSTR, and BIRBSTR are among those eligible for rewards.

PunkStrategy was originally designed as an automated trading protocol exclusively for CryptoPunks, a renowned NFT collection of 10,000 unique characters created by Larva Labs and later acquired by Yuga Labs in 2022.

"Initially, PunkStrategy began as an art project but evolved into an entirely new token concept. It was inevitable that it would be forked, so we felt the need to create a system where anyone could launch their own while ensuring safety and permissionless access for buyers," TokenWorks elaborated on their official platform.

"We also aimed to enhance the value of $PNKSTR and ensure that creators and artists who have been gradually sidelined from royalties received due compensation," they added.

Recent data from OpenSea indicates that since its launch on Ethereum, the PUNKSTR token has achieved a market capitalization of $87.2 million. The token is experiencing a daily trading volume of $1.5 million and currently holds a value of $0.08718, showing a slight decrease of 1.9% over the last 24 hours. However, it has impressively surged by 392% since its launch on September 15.

Understanding NFT Strategy Tokens

According to TokenWorks, each ERC-721 based NFT collection can be converted into a singular NFT Strategy token on a 1 to 1 basis. When the treasury reaches the floor price of the cheapest CryptoPunk, the associated smart contract will automatically purchase it and relist it at a 20% markup, or at a price that is 1.2 times the original.

Once the NFT is sold on the market, all of the Ethereum (ETH) obtained from the CryptoPunk sales is then used to buy and burn NFT Strategy tokens, perpetuating the cycle of purchasing and relisting NFTs, thereby generating yield for token holders.

Every PNKSTR swap conducted on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) like Uniswap comes with a 10% fee. Out of this, 8% is redirected into an ETH treasury, while 1% is allocated to supporters and another 1% is designated for the TokenWorks team.

The structure of fees will slightly differ for other NFT Strategy tokens. Each will maintain a 10% fee, with 8% allocated to the NFT accumulation pool, 1% going to the collection owner as royalties, and 1% reserved for buying and burning PNKSTR, which is the main product.
