Arthur Hayes, the co-founder of the cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX, recently made a significant shift in his investment strategy by selling off part of his Ethereum holdings to delve deeper into the world of decentralized finance (DeFi). According to blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain, Hayes sold 1,871 ETH, worth around $5.53 million, over the last two weeks. Following the sale of Ethereum, Hayes quickly redirected his funds into various DeFi projects. On-chain data reveals that he acquired 961,113 PENDLE tokens, valued at roughly $1.75 million. In addition, he bought 2.3 million LDO tokens at $1.29 million and added 6.05 million ENA tokens for nearly $1.24 million. Hayes also accumulated 491,401 ETHFI tokens, totaling an estimated $343,000. Moreover, he withdrew $2.52 million from centralized exchanges to reinvest in DeFi-related assets, resulting in DeFi tokens and stablecoins now accounting for over 60% of his total crypto portfolio. Meanwhile, his Ethereum holdings have diminished significantly, with Hayes currently holding 3,160 ETH worth around $9.4 million.

Of all his DeFi assets, PENDLE has emerged as a central position in Hayes' portfolio, representing 48.9% of his DeFi exposure. Many of the DeFi tokens he has invested in have faced recent price declines.
