BitMine Immersion Technologies has recently bolstered its cryptocurrency portfolio with the acquisition of over 7,000 ether, investing approximately $19.8 million in this initiative. This addition accounts for more than 3% of Ethereum's total supply. According to data from on-chain analytics platform Lookonchain, on December 2, a BitMine-associated wallet purchased 7,080 ETH from FalconX, continuing a buying trend that started over the weekend.

Over that weekend, the same wallet acquired a total of 16,693 ETH for close to $50.1 million, which means BitMine has acquired 23,773 ETH—or about $70 million—within merely three days. With these latest purchases, BitMine has established itself as the largest corporate holder of Ethereum, boasting a total holding of over 3.7 million ETH, as noted in a separate press release from the company dated December 1. Furthermore, BitMine is now approximately 63% towards its ambitious goal to hold 5% of Ethereum's total supply.

Throughout November, BitMine engaged in acquiring nearly 150,000 ETH during various dips in the market, capitalizing on price fluctuations. Unfortunately, during this same period, Ethereum's price has struggled, facing downward pressure due to a risk-averse market climate. The cryptocurrency has experienced a nearly 30% decline over the past month, trading over 43% below its all-time high reached in August. This downturn has been intensified by significant outflows from Ethereum ETFs that previously supported the price surge observed earlier this year.

Crypto analysts advise caution as traders anticipate further volatility in Ethereum's price in the upcoming trading sessions. Despite the challenges, BitMine's Chairman, Tom Lee, defended the company's aggressive purchasing strategy, viewing it as a strategic position in light of upcoming catalysts, including the Fusaka upgrade and potential U.S. Federal Reserve interest rate cuts.

"In the past week, BitMine has acquired 96,798 ETH tokens. We see these efforts as contributing to positive tailwinds for ETH prices, prompting us to increase our weekly purchases of ETH by 39%," Lee stated in the recent press release.
