BitMine's Growing Ethereum Ownership

The latest transaction by BitMine, comprising 60,976 ETH, marks its largest weekly acquisition thus far in 2026. Following this purchase, BitMine now boasts a total of 4.5 million ETH tokens, solidifying its position as a major player in the Ethereum market. With this new acquisition, BitMine now holds about 3.76% of Ethereum's total supply, making significant strides towards its ambitious goal known as the “Alchemy of 5%” within just eight months.

In addition to its extensive crypto holdings, BitMine has revealed that it has staked 3,040,483 ETH, equating to an approximate value of $6 billion based on the ETH price of $1,965 at the time of the announcement. Altogether, the firm’s assets, including cash and various cryptocurrencies, have amassed to $10.3 billion, which breaks down into 4.535 million ETH tokens, $1.2 billion in cash, and other crypto assets.

As Ethereum prices remain stable above the essential $2,000 mark, CEO Tom Lee emphasized the robustness of ETH even amid escalating geopolitical tensions and the surge in oil prices.

Signs of Recovery in the Crypto Market

Lee also commented on the current state of the cryptocurrency market, expressing a positive outlook regarding the end of what he describes as a “mini-crypto winter.” He remarked, “Ethereum prices have maintained their strength this week, even with rising concerns about conflicts and increasing oil prices. We firmly believe the crypto market is in the late stages of the 'mini-crypto winter.'”

Notably, Lee drew comparisons between the current ETH price trends and historical movements seen in the S&P 500 during downturns in 2011 and 1987. Insights from Tom DeMark, an advisor at BitMine, indicate correlations of up to 89% and 93% with the S&P 500’s behavior during those brief declines.

Looking ahead, the analyst anticipates that Ethereum prices could reach their lowest levels between March 8 and March 14, possibly dipping slightly below the recent low of $1,740, suggesting a potential drop of about 14% from current trading values.

Lee further explained that BitMine's strategy involves ramping up its pace of ETH accumulation, increasing its recent weekly purchases from an average of 45,000-50,000 ETH to this latest acquisition of 60,976 ETH.

On Monday, Ethereum recorded a 4% increase, reclaiming the $2,000 threshold after a short dip below this vital level over the preceding weekend. At the same time, BitMine's stock (BMNR) witnessed positive growth, trading at $20.70 per share at the time of this report, showcasing a notable 10% increase for the company.
