Strong Recovery for Ethereum ETFs

Ethereum spot Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) bounced back from a lackluster Tuesday and achieved their most impressive single-day inflows in nearly two months, with $169 million recorded on Wednesday. Data from SoSoValue indicates this is the highest net inflow since January 14, when $175 million was brought in. Earlier, the market correction in mid-January led to substantial outflows from investment products, particularly affecting Bitcoin (BTC) and ETH.

During a five-week downturn, Ethereum ETFs experienced a net outflow of $1.38 billion. Nevertheless, they ended this streak last week by generating inflows of $80.46 million.

As of now, these funds have accrued $197.35 million in inflows this week alone, potentially marking the best weekly performance since January 16, when they closed with $479.04 million. Alex Kuptsikevich, chief market analyst at FxPro, remarked that the resilience of crypto ETFs amid increasing geopolitical tensions and a selloff in financial markets indicates a “victory for cryptocurrencies,” and suggests that some traders may be viewing digital assets as a safe haven.

James Butterfill, head of research at CoinShares, noted that recent discussions with clients have predominantly revolved around finding entry points rather than pulling back from the asset class.

On Wednesday, Ethereum's price surged by 12%, marking its highest level since February 4. In the wake of the market recovery, ETH reclaimed the $2,100 level, hitting a one-month peak of $2,199 before retracting. Since the early February drop, Ethereum has fluctuated between $1,825 and $2,150, struggling to break above its local range's upper limit.

Analyst Rekt Capital noted that Ethereum ended the month just below a vital multi-year ascending trendline, which has historically served as macro support.

This situation places Ethereum in a structurally bearish position, increasing the likelihood of a monthly retest of this trendline as resistance rather than support. Rekt Capital warned that if this trendline turns into resistance, it would suggest a breakdown from the broader market structure, raising the probability of a deeper decline into a critical horizontal zone and historical demand area near $1,600.

He stated, “If Ethereum rejects from the trendline and the current bounce retraces in full, that rejection would signal the trendline dissipating as support and confirm the breakdown scenario.” However, he cautioned that a bearish continuation isn't guaranteed yet. If ETH can re-establish this trendline as support on a monthly basis, the price could rally towards the horizontal and historical supply area between $2,250 and $2,500, providing a potential relief zone until the market decides on its next direction.

“At this point, Ethereum is at a crucial decision point around the multi-year trendline,” he concluded.
