According to an analysis by Brian Quinlivan of Santiment, the recent decline in Ethereum's social media sentiment resembles the atmosphere before its remarkable price rally in 2025. This trend suggests a potentially bullish outlook for the cryptocurrency, echoing the circumstances that led to Ethereum's dramatic rise from $1,470 in April 2025 to $4,900 by August.

“Ethereum is actually way down, which suggests we may not fall much further,” Quinlivan shared in a YouTube video. “This situation closely resembles what we witnessed before Ethereum's significant rally last year.”

At present, Ethereum is trading at $3,099, showing a modest gain of 0.4% over the past 24 hours, although it has decreased by 4.5% over the last 30 days and 4.2% year-over-year.

Past Price Rally Driven by Investor Sentiment

Ethereum's price peaked at $4,900 on August 23, 2025, following a significant rebound from its earlier 2025 lows of around $1,470 in April, as indicated by CoinGecko data. Quinlivan highlighted that the price surge occurred when public sentiment towards Ethereum was at a low point. Many investors were beginning to lose faith in the asset at that time, which contributed to a sharp reversal in sentiment leading to the rally.

Since reaching that all-time high, ETH has experienced a decline of 36%, particularly after a $19 billion liquidation event in the crypto market on October 10 triggered a wider market downturn. However, the token has shown a 5.5% gain over the past two weeks, currently standing at $3,099.

Quinlivan made a distinction between present sentiment and what was observed in early 2025, noting, “I wouldn't say we're seeing the same level of doubt now. Ethereum is regarded as the expected number two in market cap by many investors once again.”
