Ethereum's Potential Trend Reversal

Ethereum started the week strong, surpassing $2,200 for the first time in several weeks and reaching a one-month peak of $2,320 on Monday morning. Since experiencing a crash in early February, the cryptocurrency has been trading in a range between $1,825 and $2,150, struggling to break free from this pattern despite several attempts.

Over the past week, Ethereum has rebounded impressively, climbing 20% from last week’s lows and posting seven consecutive green candles on the daily chart. With this performance, ETH has closed weekly above the $2,000-$2,150 range, setting the groundwork for a potential retest of the one-month resistance level as support.

Market analyst MacroCRG noted that ETH currently stands as the strongest among the leading cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. It has seen gains of over 9.7% on the weekly and 14.5% on the daily charts, outperforming other top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap.

Moreover, Ethereum has surpassed the 50-day Moving Average (MA) for the first time in 56 days and re-entered the 12H Ichimoku Cloud after 55 days.

Analyst Ali Martinez highlighted that another crucial indicator, employed to better understand market trends, has flashed its first bullish signal in six months, suggesting that the downtrend might be coming to an end. According to him, the SuperTrend indicator has shifted from a 'Sell' to a 'Buy' signal for the first time since September, showcasing Ethereum's price breakout and increasing institutional interest.

Martinez pointed out that in the last two instances when the SuperTrend indicated a 'Buy' signal, Ethereum surged by 52% and an impressive 174%. The last notable move resulted in reaching an all-time high (ATH) of $4,946 in August.

“We’ve endured a challenging period from September to March,” asserted the analyst. “The next key levels to monitor are $2,400 and $2,600.”

Breakout or Bull Trap?

Market observer Ted Pillows has also commented on ETH's recent performance, stating that now that $2,150 has been reclaimed, “there’s not much resistance for Ethereum until the $2,400 zone.”

However, he cautioned that the recent bullish momentum might be fleeting, suggesting the possibility of a bull trap and a subsequent drop towards potential market lows. “In my opinion, ETH could touch the $2,400 zone as I’ve suggested previously, before a reversal that could take it to new lows,” he mentioned.

Pillows explained that Ethereum has been trading sideways, consolidating between two primary liquidity clusters: one ranging from $2,200-$2,600 and another from $1,400-$1,700. He indicated that both clusters would likely be impacted soon. “First, Ethereum could rise to the $2,400 level to wipe out late shorts. Following this, ETH would begin its downward reversal and possibly hit new lows,” he warned.
